British police reported on Sunday that two people remain in critical following a mass stabbing incident that occurred on Saturday night on a train heading to London. The train made an emergency stop around 7:39 PM. Superintendent of British Transport Police John Loveless confirmed that the two detainees are in custody and 'were born in the UK'. However, that statement was later rescinded. Passengers described scenes of panic. One recounted that he initially thought it was a Halloween prank until he saw blood on his hand after leaning on a seat. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his 'thoughts are with all those affected' after the 'horrible incident'. The suspects are a 32-year-old black British man and another 35-year-old man of Caribbean descent. Terrorism Ruled Out Although the motive for the attack has not been revealed, Defence Secretary John Healey told Sky News that 'the initial assessment is that this was an isolated incident'. Initially, the police force had activated the 'Plato' protocol, the keyword used by British emergency services when responding to what could be a 'terrorist attack in progress'. However, authorities ruled out that it was a terrorist incident and confirmed that two people are detained. Superintendent of British Transport Police John Loveless updated the status of the victims. He reported that of the 10 injured, nine were initially reported in critical condition, but four have already been discharged. The attack occurred when the train, operated by LNER and traveling from Doncaster (northern England) to London's King's Cross station, was approaching the city of Huntingdon, about 120 km north of the capital. Operator LNER warned there will be 'severe disruption' on the route until Monday. Olly Foster told the BBC that he heard people screaming: 'Run, run, there's a guy literally stabbing everyone'.
